Geoffrey Johnny and Robert Daniel first collaborated while studying abroad at the Lyon University of Art and Design in Switzerland. Their style was initially criticized by professors for “being too urban,” but they decided to embrace what made them different. Geoffrey and Robert named their final thesis “Geoffrey Johnny” as a reminder to never shy away from challenging the status quo.
Returning home to opposite coasts in the States, Geoffrey and Robert continued to seek each other's advice until graduating in 2003. As young and talented designers fresh out of school, they found themselves in New York City working for top labels like Supply and Adirondack. After refining men’s haute couture for seven years, they’d set aside enough savings to devote themselves fully to their label.
