Overwhelming Chemical Odor from Custom Car Mats
I’ve been “airing out” the mats for over one month under my covered patio to see if the extreme chemical smell they arrived with would dicipate.
I’ve decided to bring them inside my house, but the mats still have an extremely strong and offensive chemical smell, and they’ve only been in my living room for 10 minutes. I feel a headache coming on due to the chemicals. I can’t imagine placing them in my new car and ruining the new car smell AND them choking me with that odor.
Do you have any suggestions as to how to remove the smell of chemicals from your mats? It would be hard for me to believe that I am your first consumer experiencing this issue.

Carla,

Thanks for reaching out to us with your comments. Please note that these mats are sold manufactured in our plant outside of Los Angeles, CA right here in the US and meet all the government guidelines for safety. That being said, we've been selling these mats for many years to a wide range of customers and vehicles and although they are produced from vinyl and can have a slight odor from time to time, please realize that they are safe and not harmful or toxic in any way, whatsoever. We're very sorry that you've had a less than ideal experience with these mats. We would be happy to reach out to you (or feel free to email/call us) so we can find the best solution for you. (A quick fix, should you want to try, is to rub a little vanilla extract over the surface of the mats to remove the 'new vinyl' smell if it hasn't dissipated by now. If not, just call/email us or let us know a good date and time to reach out to you. Thanks!
