One of the few traders offering a product I particularly wanted, so ‘took a gamble’ and placed an order on 26 September, paying by credit card, and this was acknowledged as you would expect.
On 4 October (by when I was beginning to wonder when i would receive my goods) I received an ‘order update’ stating “Apologies for the delay, we had a systems issue which we've only just got rectified. Your order has been updated. New status: Being packaged in warehouse.”
Then on 9 October I received a further ‘order update’, this time stating “Apologies, we have been hacked and are having system issues that is preventing us from processing orders. Your order has been updated. New status: Cancelled.”
The following day, having checked my credit card statement online and found that no refund had been issued, I emailed them expressing my concern that they had made no mention of refunding the payment claimed against my credit card and whether customer's personal details and/or card details may have been accessed by unauthorised persons as a result of the 'hack'. I said I would be grateful for confirmation of what's being done about these two issues, but no response has been received to date.
Although I've now found that my card has since been credited I've not been advised of this - and find it very strange that the same product is still being offered on the website.
