Social Entrepreneurship in Action
The Zimbabwe Farm Project was founded by Ayanna Nahmias. She is accomplished in many career pursuits, notably IT program management, but what makes this project unique is that it is the first time I have witnessed someone who isn’t wealthy, and who did not have any benefactors, create and self-sustain a project that is the essence of social entrepreneurship.
If she can do it from half a world away, pouring her resources, skills, and abilities into a project simply so that others may have opportunities, then we should all look in the mirror, and look in our circle of friends and acquaintances, and look in our neighborhoods and beyond for opportunities to give without expectation of recompense.
I donated to the Zimbabwe Farm Project through the secure site, though you can also use PayPay, or snail mail. But, anyway you can give financial support would be a blessing to the people and to the project.
What I like most about this project is it’s driving mission,
“Allowing people to maintain self-respect through creating opportunities to participate in activities which lead to self-sufficiency versus dependency.”
